Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will starts admission procedure under the July 2026 academic year from 10 May 2026* and the last date to apply will be 31 July 2026*. For admissions, students can apply through the university’s online website @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in or through their nearest regional centre. The registration fee for admission is a one-time, non-refundable fee of INR 200, which is to be paid during initial enrolment.

IGNOU Application Process 2026 July Session

Indira Gandhi National Open University processes applications through its online portal for most of its programs. IGNOU will open admissions for the July 2026 session in the second week of May. Students who want to apply for any program in IGNOU should complete their application process through the official admission portal @ignou.ac.in. They must read all the relevant information before applying for the desired course. 

To apply to the desired course, students are required to register themselves on the portal, select their preferred program, and add personal and educational details in the application form. In addition to this, they should also upload all the important documents that are required for admission at IGNOU. The application fee for registration in any IGNOU course at IGNOU is INR 200. Once students submit their application form and pay the registration fee, they can check their admission status with the IGNOU online student dashboard.

How to Apply for IGNOU Admission 2026 July Session

• Step 1: Visit the official IGNOU admission portal at www.ignou.ac.in.
• Step 2: Click on “New Admission”. If you are an existing student, use the “Re-registration” option.
• Step 3: Create an account by entering your name, email ID and mobile number. Create a username and a password. Your login details will be sent to you via email. 
• Step 4: Log in with the given username and password. Fill in all personal details carefully. Enter all the details required. Select programme and specialisation. Choose your study centre. 
• Step 5: Upload scanned copies of required documents in JPG or PDF format (size below 500 KB), including: passport size photograph, signature, 10th certificate, 12th marksheet, graduation certificate and category certificate. 
• Step 6: Check all the details carefully. Pay an application fee of INR 200 and click on the submit button. 
• Step 7: Pay the programme fee after your application is verified. Complete this step to confirm your admission.

How to Generate an IGNOU DEB ID?

DEB ID is very important for taking admission at any course in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). To make the DEB ID, students must have an Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) ID. To make your DEB ID, follow the steps below 

• Visit the DEB website @deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDEBId.
• On the website, a dialogue box is given for DEB ID generation.
• If the student already has an ABC ID, they can enter the ABC ID in that dialogue box, and it will generate the DEB ID.
• For students who do not have Aan BC ID, they can visit the DigiLocker and create their ABC ID there.
• After creating the ABC ID, they can return to the DEB portal to register and create a DEB ID.

IGNOU 2nd Year Admission 2026 July Session

Students who have already taken admission in IGNOU have to re-register in the second year. Indira Gandhi National Open University will commence the re-registration procedure for their UG and PG level course into the July 2026 academic session from 5 May 2026. Students can open the official re-registration portal of IGNOU @onlinerr.ignou.ac.in  to complete the procedure. IGNOU Re-registration/2nd year admission 2026 last date will be 31 July 2026 under the July session. Re-admission is the process by which already enrolled IGNOU students register themselves for the next semester. This process is repeated after every term-end examination. 

How to Fill the IGNOU Re-Registration Form

• Open the re-registration website on the browser @onlinerr.ignou.ac.in. 
• Read the instructions given on the home page.
• At the end of the instruction, select Proceed for Re-registration.
• Sign in with the IGNOU online student login.
• Select the course and year to continue with the registration process.
• Enter the details in the application form.
• Pay the IGNOU re-registration fees of Rs. 200/-.
• Submit the form and save the acknowledgement page.

Offline IGNOU 2026 Admission at Regional Centre

For taking admission in the IGNOU 2026 session through offline mode, students can visit their nearest regional or study centre.

• Upon reaching the centre, they should locate the “Student Service Cell,” where staff members are available to guide applicants through the process.
• Candidates can request the offline admission form and seek assistance from IGNOU officials if they face any confusion while filling it out. This facility is especially helpful for students in rural areas or those who are not comfortable with online applications.
• After collecting the form, applicants must carefully fill in all required details and attach photocopies of necessary documents such as educational certificates, ID proof, and photographs.
• Although the process is offline, the application fee is generally paid online through available payment methods. Once everything is completed, the filled form must be submitted to the centre to finalise the admission process for the IGNOU 2026 session.

IGNOU Admission Status 2026 July Session

• Once you have submitted your application online, the next step check your admission status online.
• The application status can be confirmed, pending, rejected, or payment pending.
• You can check your admission status either through the ISMS portal or through SMS/Email. 
• If you want to check it through ISMS portal visit isms.ignou.ac.in. Enter your enrollment number and programme code. Once you submit these details, you can check your status. 
• If you check it via SMS/Email, you can check it through the confirmation that IGNOU send through email and SMS to your registered contact details. 

IGNOU FLIP Admission 2026 July Session

There are a few Fixed Learning Intake Programmes (FLIP) given at IGNOU. Students can apply to these programmes on a separate admission portal designed specifically for FLIP courses admission 2026. These courses need extra one-to-one interaction with IGNOU teachers and subject matter specialists because of their nature.
